Ari joined us as a client in early 2012 and we were so impressed with not only her competition history but also her horsemanship and clear dedication to do the right thing by her horses that we invited her to join us as a Summit Star.
Ari has been riding horses for twelve years now and through those years has achieved numerous awards in Dressage and Eventing. She has been United States Dressage Federation or California Dressage Society champion from Training level through Prix St George competing as a junior young rider. In 2010 she competed at the Intermediate 1 level with scores to 68%, and she has won almost every three day event that she entered at Novice and Training level.
Ari is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold medalist. She earned all her medals on Corlander II (Armani) a horse she trained herself from a recently imported green three year old from Germany, to a grand prix horse at age 10. She was a member of the 2008 NAJC region 7 dressage team where, as the highest scoring team member, she helped her team to a Bronze medal. She also received the individual Silver medal individually with a score of 68.9%. She represented the region 7 team again in 2011 as a Young rider, helping them to a fourth place finish. In 2011 Ari was invited to participate at the USEF Festival of Champions in Gladstone, New Jersey where she and Armani finished fifth in the nation.
Ari moved Armani up to the grand prix level in 2012 and was ranked third in the nation for the Young Rider Grand Prix (Brentina Cup) level. She hopes to qualify again with Armani next year and attend the championships. Ari would love to represent her country at International competitions and has high hopes in doing so and would love to achieve these goals with Armani.
Outside of the competitive dressage world, Ari is a C1 rated member of the United States Pony Club, which she achieved in 2002 on her first horse. While obviously an extremely dedicated equestrian she is also attending college to obtain degrees in Business and Animal Science.
Known as Armani around the barn, Corlander II is an 11 year old Rhinelander Gelding by Cordino. He has been with Ari for almost 8 years. Together they evented through training level but he was not very brave on cross country so they switched to jumpers but then he wouldn’t jump liverpools. So Ari decided to try dressage and he was fantastic! Together they are is now competing at the FEI Grand Prix level with great success.
When Clair started working with Ari, Armani was on a mixed forage diet with a large amount of rice bran as a source of “cool calories”. Ari explained that he is a very hot horse and so she was relying on the rice bran as a way to improve him stamina without losing his focus. Unfortunately Clair’s analysis revealed that he was missing some very key nutrients. Thanks to Clair he is now on a balanced diet that includes a combination of a high fat performance feed and ration balancer along with an additional vitamin E supplement. Ari reports that Armani is feeling better than ever! He has the stamina she was looking for and the increased focused in his work. They are hoping to qualify to compete in the Under 25 Grand Prix championships in Aachen in the near future.
Don Diego is a 9 year old Oldenburg gelding by Diamond Hit. Currently schooling third level dressage and dabbling in novice level eventing. Diego came to The Lopez family in 2010. He was very green for his age but is showing lots of promise! We are excited to see where he will go. Since having his diet evaluated his attitude and energy level have changed for the better! They are hoping to show him in some jumper shows in 2012!
